Be cunning, play smart, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps evolved from the ancient Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the beginnings of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been invented by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the 12th century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s knights wagered on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French moved south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is gotten from the name of the bad luck throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi barges and throughout the nation. Many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn developed the modern craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so players can bet on the dice to lose. At another time, he designed the spots for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
