Be clever, play cunning, and discover how to play craps the proper way!
Dice and dice games goes back to the Crusades, but current craps is only about 100 years old. Modern craps developed from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the birth of the game, but Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s knights enjoyed Hazard through a blockade on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when expelled by the English, the French moved south and located safety in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is acquired from the term for the bad luck toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi riverboats and across the nation. A good many think the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps setup. He appended the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could bet on the dice to not win. At another time, he established the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
