If the pay out for a Do not Pass Odds bet equals the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds wager is bridged. The part of your Odds bet that is equal to the Flat wager is laid exactly next to the Flat bet. Then, the remainder of the Odds wager is laid on top "bridging" them. e.g., consider you put a five dollar Don’t Pass bet and the shooter rolls a point of eight. Being aware of the true odds for the eight are six to five (for example., six ways to roll a 7, and five ways to roll an eight), you then place $6 in Odds with the expectation of winning five dollars. In this instance, if you actually win the six dollars Odds wager, you win 5 dollars, which exactly equals the amt. you win with your 5 dollar Flat bet. Therefore, since your Flat bet and Odds bet aquire the same amt. ($5 each), you bridge your six dollars Odds wager by making a five dollar chip literally next to your $5 Flat bet, and then laying the $1 chip so it bridges the 2 5 dollar chips.
If the payout for a Don’t Pass Odds wager doesn’t equal the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds bet is heeled. This basically means you lay the first chip of your Odds bet chip stack right beside to your Flat wager. Then, position all remaining Odds wager chips on top of that individual chip but offset and angled on that bottom chip (your Odds bet chip stack is tilted because it’s leaning on the bottom chip).
Perturbed? That is alright, don’t get agitated. The croupier is always willing to assist if you forget. After a few instances, it all makes sense. It will not take too long before you are an expert. If you’re not certain what to do the initial time you try it, basically say to the croupier, "I would like to put some Odds but I don’t know if it should be bridged or heeled." The dealer asks, "How much do you want to lay?" Suppose you indicate, "Fifteen dollars to win ten." The dealer will request that you place your chips on the table (dealers aren’t permitted to collect anything, especially chips, directly from a patron), and then he properly heels or bridges them based on the amt. of your Flat wager. You will quickly get the hang of it. Just do not be hesitant to ask the dealer questions. His/Her job is not only to deal, but also to be accommodating and help the competitors.
