Be clever, play cunning, and discover how to play craps the proper way!
Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Modern craps evolved from the old English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It is supposed that Sir William’s horsemen wagered on Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.
Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French relocated down south and found safety in southern Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi river boats and throughout the country. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the current craps layout. He added the Do not Pass line so players can bet on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he invented the boxes for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
